The development module of the New Horizons Montessori School (NHMS) website has been created to provide information to the members of our community about the many ways available to support the activities of New Horizons Montessori School. Recognizing that we are all very busy and may be unable to participate actively in all school-sponsored events, the option to provide direct financial support is available to all members of our community. All families are encouraged to consider NHMS in their charitable giving activities. • Annual Giving Fund
  
  As in all independent schools today, the Annual Giving Fund is an important source of operating funds for New Horizons Montessori School. The Annual Giving Fund provides unrestricted support for current operations. It helps underwrite the costs of faculty salaries, financial aid, teaching supplies and maintenance. Voluntary contributions to the Annual Giving Fund, together with funds from other sources, help the school maintain a balanced budget as well as supporting growth.

  Tuition alone does not cover all the costs of running the school. The Annual Giving Fund helps close this gap and assists the school’s efforts to keep tuition as low as possible. Because of the critical role of the Annual Giving Fund, New Horizons Montessori School encourages all members of our community to participate in our efforts to provide an enriched and challenging program for our children.

    The easiest way to support New Horizons Montessori School is to write a check. Please make your check payable to New Horizons Montessori School and mail to New Horizons Montessori School, 1701 Jarrettown Rd., Dresher, PA 19025.

    A gift of appreciated securities can bring the donor greater tax savings than a gift of cash. If you donate stock, that you have held for more than a year, you will receive a tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities on the date the school receives the stock. You are not required to pay a capital gains tax on the appreciation.
    
    
  • corporate matching gifts
    
    Alumni, parents and friends who work for a company that matches employee’s charitable giving can obtain a matching gift form from the human resources department of their employer. The donor usually fills out part of the form and sends it along with the gift to New Horizons Montessori School. We will take care of the rest.   • United Way donations
    
    New Horizons Montessori School qualifies as an eligible organization for United Way’s Donor Choice Program. If anyone in your household contributes to United Way through their place of employment, please consider designating your gift to New Horizons Montessori School through the Donor Choice Program. New Horizons Donor I.D. is #3568. You must write this number on the Donor Choice form.

    These donations are not monetary contributions, and may consist of furnishings, art, computers, musical instruments, books,etc. New Horizons provides a gift receipt, which acknowledges the contribution. New Horizons Montessori School accepts Gifts-In-Kind at its own discretion. Prior contact with the Development Office is requested.

    Donors may restrict their gifts for a specific purpose to benefit the students at New Horizons Montessori School. Examples of restricted gifts include scholarship, endowments or gifts to a specific department of the school.
    
    
  • endowments
    
    Gifts to Endowed Funds are placed in a permanent fund, where the principal is invested and only the earned income is spent. Endowment income is used to support scholarships, faculty and staff pensions, financial assistance to deserving students and institutional planning. Individuals may make a gift of any amount to New Horizons Montessori School.
    
    
  • Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit
    
    This program allows tax credits to encourage incorporated businesses in Pennsylvania to donate money to scholarships and educational improvement organizations for primary and secondary education. Please contact the development office with questions concerning this program.
